Signing of Alberto Moreno
On Monday, RCD Mallorca announced the acquisition of left-back Alberto Moreno, 34 years old, until the end of the season, with an option to extend. The signing comes with a free-agent contract and is part of Luis García’s plan to return to LaLiga as soon as possible.
Player’s background
Moreno was a rotation left-back last season under Cesc Fábregas at Italian side Como, where he played 1,500 minutes across all competitions. Throughout his career he has accumulated 300 top-flight appearances with clubs such as Sevilla, Villarreal and Liverpool.
Role in the Mallorca defence
At Mallorca, Moreno will take the left-back position, competing with Toni Lato and academy graduate Luis Orejuela. His experience in the role is seen as a luxury reinforcement for the club’s back line.
