RCD Mallorca have completed the signing of forward Guille Fernández. The deal was made official on Tuesday following the player's promotion with Barcelona Atlètic to the Primera RFEF.
The 19-year-old arrives on a free transfer after his contract with Barcelona expired. Fernández, who can play on the wing or as a central striker, was a key figure in the B team's successful campaign. His signing bolsters Mallorca's attack for a season where the team currently sits 5th in the Segunda División, with 6 points from three games. The squad has scored 5 goals and conceded only 2, giving them a +3 goal difference.
Guille Fernández adds versatility and youth to RCD Mallorca's forward line. His ability to create danger from wide areas and his movement in the box are his main strengths. The manager now has an additional attacking option to rotate in a demanding schedule.
The player expressed his motivation after signing. "I'm very eager to start and to help the team achieve its objectives," Fernández said. His adaptation will be important in the coming weeks.
Fernández's signing comes at a positive time for RCD Mallorca. The team has two wins and one loss from its first three league matches, showing a recent form of WLW. This run places them just one point behind leaders Granada CF in an early fight for the top spots. The addition aims to provide more firepower to a bloc that is already defensively solid.
The Balearic club wants to maintain this upward momentum. The early campaign data, available on our stats page, reflects good collective performance. Every point will count in a always competitive division.
The immediate focus returns to competition. RCD Mallorca will travel to face Eldense on the 5th of September. This away match against the bottom side in the table is an opportunity to keep adding points. A win could move the team closer to the promotion places, depending on other results.
Season planning, with all matches detailed on our fixtures page, is intense. The signing of Guille Fernández is intended to be an asset for facing this rhythm. The team plays its fourth league match on Saturday.
