Rayo Vallecano Near to Sign Marash Kumbulla

Rayo Vallecano is reportedly in advanced talks with AS Roma to secure the loan signing of Albanian center-back Marash Kumbulla. The deal, which has not been finalized as of early August, would bolster the Spanish club's backline.

Kumbulla, who turns 27 in November, currently holds a market value of roughly €3 million according to Transfermarkt data from June 2026. Roma originally signed him from Hellas Verona during the summer of 2021 and his contract with the Italian club runs through June 2028.

Financial Implications for Both Clubs

From Roma's perspective, Kumbulla is not in their first-team plans. With two years remaining on his contract, a loan deal would reduce financial burdens while keeping open options for future sales or further loan arrangements.

Kumbulla already has La Liga experience, having spent the 2025-26 season on loan at RCD Mallorca. Despite an option to buy announced on August 18, 2025, Mallorca did not exercise it.

The move would provide valuable defensive depth and experience for Rayo Vallecano, potentially strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
