RCD Mallorca faces a tough trip to Montilivi this Sunday needing to respond after their latest home defeat. The Balearic side, sitting sixth with 13 points, will take on Girona in the eighth round of the Segunda División.

The match follows the disappointment of last weekend, when Almería took all three points from Son Moix with a solitary goal from Miguel De La Fuente in the 35th minute. That result halted a positive run of three wins and a draw in the previous four matches. The squad has worked this week to correct mistakes and recover the defensive solidity that had seen them concede only three goals in seven games.

The Montilivi challenge

The setting will not be easy, as Girona arrives full of confidence after stringing together two consecutive wins, the latest against Albacete. The local side, fifth in the table, has a potent attacking unit. Mallorca will need to be wary of players like Abel Ruiz and Carles Pérez. In the last meeting between the two, on January 4th, Girona won 1-2 at Son Moix.

For this occasion, the visiting manager could make some changes to the starting eleven that fell to Almería. The attacking spearhead will once again be Adrian Fuentes, the team's top scorer with four goals this season. His finishing ability will be key to capitalising on any chances created.

A positive result in Montilivi would allow Mallorca to stay in the upper part of the table and close in on the promotion spots, currently six points behind leaders Castellón. The match kicks off at 19:00 UTC on Sunday, October 4th.
